Pretrial hearing set for Camera Doctor owner charged with sexual assault of a child

MINDEN — A pretrial hearing has been set for a Kearney business owner who is charged with sexual assault of a child and felony child abuse.

Alan Mais, 60, of Heartwell has been charged in Kearney County with nine counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child, each a Class 3A felony and intentional child abuse – no injury, a Class 3A felony.

Mais is listed as the owner of The Camera Doctor in Kearney.

A pretrial hearing has been set in Kearney County District Court on May 9 at 3:30 p.m.

Mais filed bail, 10 percent of $27,000 on Dec. 5, 2023. Stipulations include that he is to have no contact with the alleged victim, no contact with anyone under the age of 18 and is excluded from his residence in Heartwell.

The court documents detailing the charges were ordered sealed, but the complaint says the alleged charges occurred between July 1 and Nov. 13. An arrest warrant for Mais was issued on Nov. 14.
