KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is pleased to extend an invitation to the media to join Nebraska’s First Lady, Suzanne Pillen, as she visits three Kearney Public Schools (KPS) on Monday, May 6, 2024.

This visit is part of her ongoing initiative to educate the state’s youth about the importance of Nebraska agriculture and to help them understand the origins of their food and other local resources.

The First Lady’s tour will include a stop at Northeast Elementary at 2 p.m., where she will engage with students and share insights into the state’s agricultural practices. The media is invited to attend this session to capture Mrs. Pillen’s educational activities and discussions.

This initiative is part of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation through the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program. AITC is committed to delivering relevant and accurate agricultural information to students, connecting them directly to the source of their food, fiber, and energy, and highlighting the significant role agriculture plays in their everyday lives.

During her visit, First Lady Pillen will read “Right This Very Minute” a story that illustrates the value and impact of agriculture. Those interested in further details about the book can visit the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation’s official website: https://nefbfoundation.org/bushel-of-stories/.

This event promises to be an educational experience for the students, shedding light on the essential contributions of local farmers and the agricultural sector to society. We encourage media representatives to join us for this unique educational opportunity to gain insight into how agriculture shapes our world and to capture the First Lady’s efforts in promoting agricultural education among the youth.
