41-year-old man arrested after causing disturbance at Lexington Public School’s central office

LEXINGTON — On May 2, 2024, around 10:20 a.m., the Lexington Police Department responded to an incident at the Lexington Schools Central Office involving an agitated male who had been yelling inside the premises. According to reports, the individual caused damage to the front glass door as he departed the building.

The male suspect, initially fleeing in a white Mercedes, was promptly located on foot and taken into custody without further escalation. As a precaution, a nearby elementary school briefly entered a secured status to limit access until the suspect was apprehended. Classes continued without disruption, ensuring safety and normalcy for all staff and students.

The arrested individual, a 41-year-old male from Lexington, faces charges of disturbing the peace and criminal mischief, the latter for causing damage estimated to be under $1,500. Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding felony warrant from Lancaster County related to driving under revocation due to a DUI offense.

The Lexington Police Department received assistance from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department during the incident.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the law to ensure the safety and security of the community.
