KEARNEY — CHI Health Good Samaritan, in partnership with the Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness and Health Justice, is celebrating the hospital’s 100th birthday by planting 100 trees this Arbor Day.

The community is invited to a blessing of the seedlings at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 26 in the hospital’s Healing Garden. As part of the ‘Planting the Seeds of Kindness’ ceremony, an honorary tree will be planted in the garden located between the hospital’s West Tower and Cancer Center near Parking Lot C. Volunteers, including hospital staff and area church partners, will plant the remaining seedlings throughout Kearney and surrounding communities.

“Just as trees’ continued presence in our communities brings life and healing to all who pass their way, so Good Samaritan Hospital has existed to do the very same. As we share these trees to be planted out and around the Kearney region, we hope they represent the continued healing presence of our hospital for generations to come,” says Adie Johnson, Pastoral Care, Good Samaritan.

Good Samaritan encourages all to celebrate Arbor Day 2024 by planting a tree.
